Snapdragon Family Height: up to 3 feet July 22, 2005 Franklin Co., MA This is another lovely non-native that grows along the roadsides of western Massachusetts. One reason there are so many European imports in New England is because they were brought over on purpose for food or medicine by the early settlers or they were mixed in with fodder for their animals. Many non-native plants become well-established in a new area because they have no natural enemies to consume them.
Bellflower Family Cloudcroft, NM Oct. 2, 2008 This is one of my favorite wildflowers! It is always a treat to find them blooming in a field. I found these blooming high in the Sacramento Mountains.
Las Cruces, NM Oct. 7, 2008 The species name cardiophylla means "heart-leafed". These flowers looked pretty along with the small red-flowered morning glories.
