Pink Family Las Cruces, NM (Aguirre Springs) Oct. 6, 2008 This is a woodland version of Chickweed. It grew on the heavily shaded, north side of the Pine Tree Trail. (That's why I had to use my flash to get this photo!)
Las Cruces, NM (Aguirre Springs) Oct. 4, 2008 There were a couple of patches of this plant near the Aguirre Springs campground. This plant was photographed next to the gate and the cattle guard. I had a hard time identifying this plant, I scratched through names in my journal two times before I finally found out what it really was! It can be very hard to identify flowers by just looking at photographs. I finally found it on this very helpful website by the botanists at Western New Mexico University: Southern New Mexico Wildflowers
