Aster Family High Rolls, NM Oct. 3, 2008 I spotted this flower as we were driving along a dusty mountain road. We were hunting for a rare white poppy (which I never found). I love getting off the highways onto back roads where we can stop relatively safely when I see a new flower, I'm really in my element then! It took us over an hour to drive the 9 miles to our destination because I kept seeing new flowers! :)
Las Cruces, NM Oct. 4, 2008 Not only do I have a patient husband, I also have a patient cousin! Sam was so nice to stop whenever I saw a new flower as we were driving to Aguirre Springs on the east side of the Organ Mountains. Clammyweed gets its name from the sticky, tiny hairs found on the stems and leaves.
Cloudcroft, NM Oct. 3, 2008 I found this flower blooming along the beginning of the Osha Trail at ~8000' elevation. It was in fairly heavy shade in the woods. When we came back by it a couple of hours later, the flowers had begun to wilt.
