Rose Family Mt. Rainier National Park June 25, 2009 I spotted this plant growing along the Wonderland Trail just above Longmire. The flowers have an unusually long stem.
Orchid Family Mt. Rainier National Park June 25, 2009 This is another of the saprophytic orchids that I saw growing in Mt. Rainier. These orchids are up to 1' tall. Don't look for leaves on this plant, there aren't any!
Dogwood Family Mt. Rainier National Park June 22, 2009 Like our southern Dogwood trees, the true flowers are in the center surrounded by the 4 white bracts. Each of these small flowers can produce one red berry in the fall.
