Aster Family This is a common roadside weed that blooms much of the year. It has long, 2-pronged seeds that stick into clothing, not a fun plant to run into!
Haemodoraceae Family Santa Rosa Co., FL I found this plant blooming in a low spot below a dune at the Gulf Shores National Seashore in August 2003. I had to take this from the boardwalk, so I wasn't able to get very close to get a good picture.
Milkweed Family This milkweed has a habit of growing on the ground. It has stiff purple-hued leaves. I found this one growing at Gulf Island National Seashore in August 2003.
