Pea Family June 30, 2006 Elkhorn Slough - Elkhorn, California I had seen this plant in my wildflower books for years, but this was the first time I'd seen it in the wild. It was growing in a patch on the top of a hill at Elkhorn Slough.
Mallow Family June 29, 2006 Salinas, CA I found this plant blooming in a fallow field next the hotel where we stayed in Salinas. The flower had not fully opened by the time I took this photo around 9:30 in the morning.
