Haemodoraceae Family Santa Rosa Co., FL I found this plant blooming in a low spot below a dune at the Gulf Shores National Seashore in August 2003. I had to take this from the boardwalk, so I wasn't able to get very close to get a good picture.
Milkweed Family This milkweed has a habit of growing on the ground. It has stiff purple-hued leaves. I found this one growing at Gulf Island National Seashore in August 2003.
These plants have the tiniest white flowers and the leaves and stems are very thin. It is very easy to miss this plant growing on the roadsides. I found it in Milton in October.
