Sanibel Island, FL Dec. 18, 2009 I really had to go back through my "mental library" to figure out what this plant was when I spotted it along the trail at the Bailey Tract on Sanibel Island. I had seen it many times when I looked up plants in my Florida Wildflowers book. I guess going over my wildflower books over and over for several years does pay off eventually! :) It was growing in the middle of a lot of other plants, so I had a hard time photographing it.
Newport, FL Dec. 21, 2009 There was a section of the highway where several of these pretty lilies were blooming. That is one reason I like to get off the interstate highways, it is easier (and legal) to pull over if I see a new flower I want to photograph! Although, I must admit, we left a trail of mud on the road when we resumed our trip!
Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, FL Dec. 16, 2009 This was a small variety of Arrowhead plant.
