Sanibel Island, FL Dec. 16, 2009 This beautiful flower blooms at night and is pollinated by moths. I had seen the wilted flowers that morning and knew where to look for it that night when we came back from our trip to Corkscrew Swamp and Big Cypress Preserve. This photograph was taken at 9:00 p.m.
Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary Dec. 16, 2009 One of my goals for this trip was to find some orchids in bloom. Thanks to Don, one of the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary volunteers, I was able to see two. Since they grow in thick vegetation far from the boardwalk, they are hard to spot. I had to take this photo with my telephoto lens.
Big Cypress Preserve Dec. 16, 2009 This wildflower was a bonus, I found it as I was trying to get a good photo of a Bladderwort. I didn't smell it, but I wish I had!
