Aster Family Corbin, KY August 1, 2008 Goldenrods can be notoriously difficult to identify, but this one can be quickly identified by crushing and sniffing a leaf. If a licorice-like aroma is detected, it is Sweet Goldenrod. I was very glad to learn that little trick!
Iris Family July 10, 2006 There was a large stand of these pretty flowers blooming along Cades Cove Road in the Smoky Mountains. Since they are garden plants, it shows the hardiness of the plants at the old homesites. Nearby, there were also Blackberry lilies, another holdout.
