Buttercup Family Mt. Rainier National Park June 23, 2009 These pretty little flowers were blooming in a snow-free patch of ground along the trail above Paradise on the slopes of Mt. Rainier. The end of June was "spring" in the higher elevations of the park.
Lily Family Mt. Rainier National Park June 24, 2009 Since it was still spring in the higher elevations, we were a bit early for these flowers. We saw only one small patch, and that took a walk down the road from a pull-over. These are related to the Trout Lilies in the east.
Aster Family Seattle, WA June 17, 2009 Hairy Cat's Ear was the first wildflower we saw from the plane, it is a very common plant in the west. It grows to around 18" and can color roadsides and yards with their golden flowers.
