Aster Family Milton, FL August 6, 2006 This plant is very unpalatable to livestock. As Ken and I were driving out of Florida into Alabama we passed a field that had nothing in it but this plant.
Verbena Family Milton, FL August 5, 2006 I was surprised to learn this plant is native to Florida since it is often planted as an ornamental. On the pink varieties, the flowers change color after being pollinated. The green, unripe berries contain triterpenes are poisonous to dogs, cats, goats, sheep, cattle, and humans. Lantana can cause photosensitivity in white goats.
