Amaryllis Family Carmel, CA - Pt. Lobos State Preserve June 29, 2006 This was one of those, "Stop the car NOW, I've got to get out to take a picture!" flowers. Fortunately, it was in a place where we could stop safely. My cousin's wife, Sara and 12 year-old daughter, Shelly, were used to me saying that to my husband after spending the week with us, so they just laughed! I like the name of this flower, it really does have a pretty face! It looked similar to the Common Goldstar that Sara and I saw in the Pinnacles.
Aster Family June 23, 2006 Hwy. 9 This was a "florally profitable" trip; I documented 142 different wildflowers, 67 were new to me. Golden Yarrow is very similar to Lizard Tail, they were tricky to tell apart.
Lily Family Salinas, CA June 30, 2006 These pretty flowers are unusual in that they have only 3 petals instead of 6 that many other lilies have. This one has a small black insect on the top petal.
