Buttercup Family Mt. Rainier National Park June 23, 2009 I spotted this plant growing in the grass in a curve along the highway in the higher elevations of the park. Since there was no place to pull over on the curve we had to park 100 yards or so up the highway in a small pull-off and I walked back. It was the only good specimen of this plant that I found, we were still a bit early for any mass blooms.
Pea Family Ashford, WA June 23, 2009 These small shrubs color the landscape with large yellow flowers, but their beauty is only "skin" deep, they are highly invasive plants that crowd out the natives.
Arum Family Mt. Rainier NP June 25, 2009 I was excited to find this flower blooming so late in the season, they normally bloom in April. The leaves of Skunk Cabbage can grow to be nearly 4' tall!
