When I was young, I envisioned the San Andreas fault as being a long and wide crack running through much of California! :) Believe it or not, you are looking at that famous fault across Tomales Bay in Pt. Reyes National Seashore in this photo. The hills in the distance are on the stationary North American Plate, I was standing on the Pacific Plate which is moving slowly to the northwest. Needless to say, this area is highly seismically active.
