The mortician's house at Bodie State Park
I was surprised when I peered through the windows of this house! It was kind of creepy to see empty coffins! Many of them had viewing holes in the lid. The mortician kept busy between murders and deaths of the gold miners. Since mercury was used to separate the gold from the ore, miners often died prematurely. The cemeteries were on the hill above the town.
