Mono Lake
Mono Lake
Mono Lake (pronounced "moh-noh", not "mah-noh" like the disease!) is located in the town of Lee Vining, just east of Yosemite. The water contains salt and soda, it is highly alkaline. This sign shows where the former shoreline was before the city of Los Angeles began diverting water from feeder streams in 1941.
