Sesbania punicea / Pea Family
August 5, 2006
This is a very pretty, bright orange flower that is easy to spot from a distance. I found this one blooming on the bank of the Blackwater River. It is common for plants in the Pea family to contain toxins, the Sesbania species are no exception. Goats, cattle, sheep and fowl can be harmed by eating these plants.
