Lupinus perennis / Pea Family
March 24, 2006
The leaves of this lupine are very different from the Oak Ridge Lupine. I found them growing along the same sandy road as the Oak Ridge Lupine. The seeds of lupines are poisonous to goats and cattle. The toxins contained in the seeds are lupinine, anagyrine, sparteine, and hydroxylupanine. The big names are almost bigger than the seeds themselves!
