The Oak Ridge Peace Bell is located in the park at the Oak Ridge Civic Center. It was designed by Oak Ridgers and forged in Japan. The bell commemorates the dates of Pearl Harbor attacks by Japan and the dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the United States. The uranium for the atomic bombs was processed in Oak Ridge. The bell also celebrates the friendship between the people of America and Japan. It is especially beautiful in April when the cherry blossoms are in bloom!
