Euonymus americanus / Staff-tree Family
The flower is not the interesting feature of this plant; in the fall the pods pop open and small red berries hang down like drops of blood (See Fruits and Seeds). These are common in the woods. This one was photographed on the Piney River Trail in Spring City during early May.
