March 28, 2005

These delicate white flowers bloom early in the season (March, April). All anemones are in the Buttercup family. I found these blooming along the North Ridge Trail in Oak Ridge. The common name, Anemone, comes from the fact that the thin-stemmed flowers move in the wind.
Perennial
Where seen: Great Smoky Mountains NP, Norris Dam SP, Oak Ridge Greenways, Haw Ridge, Piney River, Warriors' Path SP, Ijams Nature Center
{Formerly known as: Anemonella thalictroides}
