Toothworts can grow up to 16 inches tall. The flowers may be slightly pink in hue. Toothwort is a very early bloomer, look for it in late March or early April. The species name, "heterophylla," means "different leaf," the basal leaf is larger and more rounded than the stem leaves. Slender toothwort seems to bloom a week or so later than the Cut-leaf variety.
