Wild Onion; Field Garlic
Allium vineale* /Lily Family
(INN) Rank 3
This common roadside and yard weed spreads by tiny bulblets. The plant's underground bulbs also reproduce from the main bulb, which spreads the plant even more. This plant can be a problem in fields where milk cows eat; the leaves can give the milk an onion flavor! Onions contain a chemical called N-propyl disulfide which destroys red blood cells in sheep, horses and cattle.
