This was the only view that we had of Mt. Rainier on our first day there. It was interesting to see the low clouds drift through the trees. We learned that the mountain can be seen only an average of 80 days per year. Fortunately, we were in the park 4 days, so we had one cloud-free day to enjoy the views.
We decided to do some hiking since we couldn't see the mountain. Our first hike, on the Kautz Creek trail, was just inside the western entrance of the park.
