Blinded Sphinx Moth

Being an elementary science teacher, I get some unusual and interesting "gifts"! A friend brought this moth to my classroom, she had found it on the side of a building, put it in an empty fast-food coffee cup and brought it to me. I took it home to photograph and try to identify it. I put it on a tree and it crawled to a piece of bark. It (actually I'm pretty sure it's a "she" due to the non-fuzzy antennae and the shape of the abdomen) has false eyespots on the lower wings. She kept them covered unless I touched her. I never could get her to "flash the eyes" so I could take a picture! I guess I harassed (gently of course!) her one too many times, she suddenly fluttered away to a near-by tree.
